What cell phones will work in korea?

I recently moved to Seoul and need a cell phone. They are pretty expensive here, so I was looking on ebay. I've been told normal US phones don't work out here because S. Korea uses CDMA. Is that the only difference? Can I buy a CDMA (Sprint uses it, I believe) phone from the US and have it connected here? Thanks.
