The company I worked for for the last 4 years was purchased by another company in July 2008. When the new company took over in Aug. 2008, I was given the status of "Transitional/Temporary" employee for a period of up to 12 months, and was forced to sign an employment contract listing the terms and conditions of employment for the transitional period. The terms of the contract listed the $ amount to be paid during the transition period as well as the bonus to be paid if i stayed throughout the transitional period. I signed the contract and fullfilled my part of the bargin and actually stayed for an additional 2 months. I was told in Dec. 2008 that my pay would be cut by 10% beginning Jan. 2009 because of the current economic downturn and my pay from Jan. 2009 untill my last Day (Aug. 31st) was cut by 10%. My question is, is this a violation of their contract, and what are my options for recovery of these monies?
